The Trunk

Every writer has one, or two or sometimes (mumble, mumble) trunks. It all depends on if you've passed your million word count yet, and I have. This means this could get very trunky.

In theory the trunk is where writers file their unsold (unsellable) manuscripts. However, as most writers will tell you - everything is saleable if you can find the right vic--I mean editor for it. Drek sells remarkably fast - good writing is often much slower to sell. Name sells. Fame sells. Quality - not so much.

Writing, much like putting in a septic tank - takes practice and an oblivious attitude toward smelly things. Non-writers like to think anyone can write and it's true, a pencil and sheet of paper and voila, instant writer. But it's like with that septic tank - you won't get it right the first time and you are likely to dig yourself a hole and fill it with stinky things.
